The Cabaud’s bold vision of creating meaningful wines that honored the timeless traditions of the Old World required an expertise rare even to Napa Valley. Fortunately, they met the legendary winemaker Luc Morlet early in their process and forged a partnership that is bringing their vision to fruition.
Morlet was born in France and worked nearly a decade there honing his expertise in century old principles and classic Burgundy and Bordeaux methods. Since then, he has made a name for himself in California with his non-interventionist winemaking style for clients including the Peter Michael Winery, Newton, Staglin Family Vineyard and Cabaud Wines. He started Morlet Family Vineyards, his first solo project, in 2006 with his wife, Jodie.
Passionate for both the expression of the various California terroirs, as well as the continuous pursuit of the ultimate quality, Luc calls his winemaking philosophy “neo-classical laissez-faire without compromise.” We simply call it amazing and suspect you will too.
